i got my camera!!!
February 16, 2010 at 3:31 pm | Posted in Random, Rants and Raves | 3 Commentsmy income tax return was INSANE and i had saved up close to $500 since christmas. so this past saturday, i went for it. after advice from other DSLR users, reading countless online reviews and forums and MUCH personal deliberation as to what i wanted in the end, i finally settled on the nikon d5000.

i love it. i ended up getting a pretty sweet deal (judging by all the websites i looked at that are supposed to have way better deals according to people i’ve talked to). i got the camera body and two lenses (18-55 VR and AF-S DX VR 55-200mm F4-5.6G), plus a dvd, a camera bag and free digital photography classes for about $1000. i don’t necessarily neeeeeeed the classes since it’s probably a basic course and i probably took 900 of them in college BUT i figured it would be a good refresher and… um… it’s FREE! why not, right?
so… a month and a half into 2010 and one of my goals for the year is complete! we’re off to a good start!

i got it at ritz camera. i saw they were having a deal on the camera online so i called and it was also an in-store deal. started on saturday. i got the camera, two really good vibration reducing lenses, a bag, a UV filter, an 8 gig super fast memory card, and those classes for just a little over $1000 ($850 without the filter and the memory card). here’s a link to the deal… http://www.ritzcamera.com/product/SLR1207.htm?bct=t1134
i really recommend ritz. the sales people there are really helpful and i think this is a pretty good deal after looking at all the camera websites i know of. you can also look at bhphotovideo.com (where i bought all my photo supplies while i was in college… they have some good deals here and there and shipping is really fast) and beachcamera.com. look around. hope you can get one soon too!!
